Happy Jakes can be found near Flemingston in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan within South Wales. This Village derives its name from the Family of Fleming, who possessed the Castle and Lordship of St. George's under Robert Fitzhamon.  The Flemings settled in Wenvoe where they built a Castle. A brother or son of this first lord known as ‘Fleming Melyn’ is understood to have married a heiress of ‘Llanmihangel y Twyn’, and it was at this time that the family built St Michael’s Castle at Flemingston.  Unfortunately, this was one of the many castles and great houses destroyed by Owen Glyndwr in 1400.  There are still some remains of a Castle adjoining the Church-yard.

The towns of Llantwit Major & Cowbridge are a short drive through the vale, along with the beaches of Llantwit, Nash, Southerndown and Ogmore by Sea on the heritage coast. 

We accept touring caravans, motor homes, trailer tents and tents on to our site. All prices quoted include free hot water for the showers. We are also a pet friendly site with a dedicated dog walking area of 2.5 acres.

No matter what sort of holiday you are looking for, you will find Happy Jakes ideally situated for visits to the many Blue Flag beaches of the Heritage Coast or the many castles or just walking the Coastal paths. The choice is yours.

Access For All

We have exprienced first hand the way a disabled person can be energised by the countryside from our own son, Jake, who has enjoyed many holidays in our camper van. It is with this in mind that we have taken particular consideration to the facilities we offer and their ability to be used by those who are able and those who are less able. Amongst others a perfect example is our shower block which is built with level access and comfortable wet room type showers, large enough to accommodate wheelchairs and carers if needed.
